This One Has Lampard's Name

All right Ronaldinho might have beaten Lampard to the Ballon D'Or by France Football magazine, but this time it’s going to be a lot closer. Voters just can’t afford to ignore the fact that the England International has just set a new record in the Premiership, 160 games in the top flight and still counting and is one of the Premiership’s leading scorers (Amazing for a mid-fielder.)

Lampard finished second (148 points) to Ronaldinho (225 points) however 6 points above England team mate Steven Gerrard.

Now FIFA's World Player of the Year title is up for grabs, and something tell me Lampard may just pocket this one. Frank Lampard will go head to head with Ronaldinho again next month after both players were included on the three-man shortlist to be FIFA's World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho’s Barcelona teammate Samuel Eto'o will also be competing for the prestigious title. Ronaldinho was last year’s winner.

Players receive votes from national coaches and captains from each of FIFA's member associations. The winner will be named in Zurich on December 19th, from the three who gained the most votes.

For those of you who are superstitious or strongly believe in statistics, this is a piece of information you aren’t going to like. A Spanish-based player has won the award for the last four years, and it has never been won by a player from the Premiership.
