Match Report: Switzerland Vs Turkey

Dest this post is especially for you. Well I dint really catch either leg of the Switzerland Vs Turkey qualifier but after doing a little reading up (for Dest again) on the game it seems like it was a killer of a game. The second leg was just CRAZY!

The 1st leg was at Switzerland on the 12th of November, where Switzerland beat Turkey 2 – 0. Philippe Senderos (Defender from Arsenal) scored the 1st goal of the match in the 41st minute and Valon Behrami (Plays for Lazio) added another in the 86th minute to seal the victory.

Ok this is where things get interesting.

The 2nd leg at Turkey happened on the 16th of November, Switzerland won a penalty in the very 1st minute; Alexander Frei (Plays for Rennes) converted it. So Switzerland were leading 3 – 0 on aggregate. Turkey did get themselves back into the game by scoring 3 quick goals, 2 by Tuncay Sanli in the 22nd and 36th minute respectively and Necati Ates converted a penalty in the 52nd minute.

Marco Streller (Striker for Stuttgart) scored in the 84th minute for Switzerland virtually guaranteeing them a place in the World Cup. However the Turkish weren’t done fighting for a place in the world cup. A very late goal from non other than Tuncay Sanli (Hat-Trick) in the 89th minute kept Turkey’s World Cup dreams alive, however they weren’t able the get another goal.

Switzerland makes it into the World Cup on "away goals" after a 12-year absence following a 4 - 4 aggregate draw with Turkey.

I must say I had no idea Switzerland played such good football, Dest il support Switzerland with you. Goooooooo + Schweiz +
